Memory – an analytical approach to bygone, forgotten or repressed realities by means of and through the use of archival material – is central in the work of German artist Marcel Odenbach. In recent months he has created a series of new collages that address the location and the history of the Friedrichshof Commune. For his video ‘Ausser Rand und Band’, co-produced by the Sammlung Friedrichshof, he was able to access documents from Otto Muehl’s ‘actions-analytical commune’ for the first time since the recent opening of the Friedrichshof Commune Archive.
